The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) named Boston the most energy-efficient city in the United States, according to its new 2013 City Energy Efficiency Scorecard, a report that ranks 34 of the most populous U.S. cities on policies and other actions to save energy. The report is the first to rank cities exclusively on energy efficiency efforts.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Green City Index ranks Boston fifth in the country and sixth in North America for environmental sustainability, earning top scores in the categories of energy and water use per person.
The Hub has received the ranking from a national advocacy coalition Transportation for America. Their Pedestrian Danger Index takes into account pedestrian fatalities, size of the region, and the local popularity of walking.
