Make the Common Glow for the Holidays

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department invites you to partner with us to preserve our city’s tradition of illuminating Boston Common during the winter holiday season. Please help us meet our fundraising goal in order to light the trees and buildings in the park and deliver holiday cheer to Boston’s residents and visitors.

The Boston Common holiday display is a wonderful Boston tradition.  At the conclusion of the holiday show, held Thursday, December 3, and broadcast live on WCVB-TV Channel 5 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Mayor Walsh will continue the tradition of illuminating Boston Common.

Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and may be made payable to the Fund for Parks and Recreation in Boston (tax identification #04-2784811), Boston Parks Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02118. If you have any questions, please contact the Events and Development Director at (617) 635-4032. Donations are also accepted via credit card through PayPal.

Please consider this request to ensure the continuation of the lighting of America’s first park, Boston Common, and to celebrate the holidays in our great city!
