Boston Rental Housing Center

The Boston Rental Housing Center was created by Mayor Thomas M. Menino in 1995 to provide advice, information, and assistance to Boston landlords and tenants who have problems or questions about rental housing issues.

The Boston Rental Housing Center:

  • Mediates housing-related disputes, free of charge. The BRHC has helped to resolve hundreds of landlord-tenant disputes in a non-threatening and non-partisan atmosphere,

  • Provides information to landlords and tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities under the law, and answers questions on any rental housing matter,

  • Publishes a free informational guide for landlords and tenants, entitled The Good Neighbors Handbook, which helps landlords and tenants understand and comply with the complex landlord/tenant laws, and

  • Educates landlords and tenants about rental housing matters through seminars and community meetings.
