Mission: The Office of Human Resources's mission is to help departments attract, motivate, retain, manage, and develop qualified and productive employees. The Office also provides health and life insurance, workers' compensation and unemployment benefits where necessary.

  • Transitioning Eligible Retirees to Medicare
The outreach efforts of OHR to potential Medicare eligible retirees, regarding changes in the state law, has resulted in approximately 49% of these retirees being enrolled in a City Medicare health plan. This percentage is expected to grow as outreach continues.
  • Workers’ Compensation Cost Controlled
OHR continues to work with departments to monitor and manage Workers’ Compensation in an effort to control costs. This effort has yielded positive results as illustrated by the reduction in the average number of claimants on Workers’ Comp since last year.
  • Hiring Remains Stable
The total number of employees hired during FY12 Q3 remains stable and is a reflection of the City’s continued controlled hiring process to contain cost and deliver the necessary constituent services. The percentage of people of color and women being hired remains stable and continues to move in a positive direction.
